Description Due to growth and a very strong backlog Westway Construction is adding an Estimator to our Houston area team (all local work). We are a commercial flooring contractor seeking an experienced Estimator to support our growing project pipeline. The Estimator is responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. The Estimator must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. The Estimator scrutinizes incoming inquiries, assesses all technical issues and prepares estimates of the costs of the work. The focus of the Estimator is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success. For more information text Salma at 832-798-2116 Essential Job Functions: Assists in preparing conventional bids to owner Assists in preparing negotiated estimates to owner Assists in receiving and evaluating bids prior to and on bid day Work as lead estimator when assigned Solicit participation from subcontractors Review bid requirements Set-up and maintain Building Connected Thorough understanding for assigned scopes (specs and drawings) Develops RFI's for CSP's and clarifications for CM@R Develop new subcontractor relationships Perform VE when required Bid turnovers, dumps and buyout logs Help maintain subcontractor database Work with Ops for CM@R conceptual estimates and constructability Constructability Reviews C&As Work with PSPL on Bid Packages Work with Chief Estimator for self-perform bids Running GC's Required Skills and Requirements: B.A. or B.S.in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture, or equivalent experience. 3 - 5 years of estimating experience for large projects. Knowledge of estimating software, engineering principles and construction principles. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail-oriented and can work well within a deadline-driven environment. Initiates action by being proactive with a high drive to set and meet personal goals. Performs with a strong quality orientation. Able to build partnerships across and outside of the organization by collaborating and building trust. Perform functions efficiently and accurately with little direct supervision and is able to make decisions independently. Must respect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Must be able to perform in a fast paced, changing environment by exhibiting adaptability. Goes above and beyond. Physical Activities and Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift, up to 15 pounds at times. Travel as needed.
