Position Summary
:
The primary objective of this role is to prepare cost estimates for underground construction projects.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Consult with vendors, personnel in other departments or construction superintendent/engineers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issuesAnalyze plan documents and other data to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimatesPrepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractorsConfer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimatesPrepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling workPrepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the projectAssess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project developsSet up cost monitoring and reporting systems and proceduresConduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reductionReview material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase componentsWorking with estimating team to help predict the timescales of a project, which has a considerable bearing on costsEstablishing the likely progress and completion rates, including allowances for bad weather and other unforeseen circumstancesCalculating a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, and presenting a tender priceAssume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc. Required Skills

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is required or relevant work experience,5+ years of underground estimating experience required Physical Demands
Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.Ability to sit or stand for entire shiftOccasionally requited to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.Work outdoors in all weather conditions.Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
