Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Exadata Database Migration Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on migrating Oracle Exadata databases to AWS Cloud, ensuring a smooth transition, optimized performance, and secure data handling. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Oracle Exadata systems, AWS cloud services, and database migration techniques. Key Responsibilities: Migration Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute detailed migration strategies for moving Exadata databases to AWS Cloud. Create comprehensive migration plans that include project scope, timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential migration challenges. Database Assessment and Analysis: Perform thorough assessments of existing Exadata environments to understand current configurations, data structures, and performance requirements. Identify and document database dependencies, integration points, and potential issues that may impact the migration. AWS Cloud Environment Configuration: Design and configure AWS cloud environments suitable for hosting Exadata databases, including Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and EC2 instances. Ensure the AWS setup adheres to best practices for security, scalability, and high availability. Implement AWS features such as Elastic Block Store (EBS) for storage, and configure networking and security groups. Data Migration and Transformation: Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), Oracle Data Pump, and other tools for migrating data from Exadata to AWS. Manage and execute data transformation and validation processes to ensure data integrity and consistency. Oversee the migration of both schema and data, handling large volumes of data efficiently. Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance in the AWS environment by configuring appropriate parameters, tuning queries, and implementing indexing strategies. Address performance issues related to latency, throughput, and resource utilization to achieve optimal performance. Testing and Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to validate the success of the migration. Perform functional, regression, and performance testing to ensure applications operate correctly and efficiently in the new environment. Validate data accuracy and integrity post-migration. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to the migration process, including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and compatibility issues. Provide timely solutions and escalate complex issues as needed. Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation for migration processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Prepare regular status reports and updates for stakeholders, highlighting progress, issues, and resolutions. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application developers, system administrators, and cloud architects, to ensure smooth integration and successful migration. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing updates and addressing concerns. Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on managing and operating AWS-hosted databases. Offer ongoing support and assistance for post-migration issues and optimizations. Requirements Requirements: Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of experience in Oracle Exadata administration and database management. AWS Expertise: Proven experience with AWS cloud services, especially in the context of database solutions such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and EC2. Migration Tools: Proficiency with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), Oracle Data Pump, and related migration tools. Performance Tuning: Deep understanding of database performance tuning, including indexing, query optimization, and resource management. Project Management: Strong project management skills, including experience with planning, executing, and managing complex database migration projects. Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on data integrity, performance optimization, and issue resolution. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Certifications (Preferred): AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database Specialty, Oracle Exadata certifications, or similar qualifications. Preferred Skills: Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integration of on-premises databases with AWS cloud solutions. Familiarity with additional AWS services such as AWS Lambda, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Backup, and AWS Glue. Knowledge of security best practices for cloud-based databases, including data encryption, access control, and compliance.
