Job Description
**Job Title: Excavator Operator**
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Operate a trackhoe/excavator to dig trenches to required depth, slope, and alignment using **lasers, grade stakes, and hand signals** .
+ Excavate for utilities including water, sewer, storm drain, duct banks, and other underground systems.
+ Work closely with the foreman, pipe crew, and grade checker to maintain accuracy and production.
+ Perform safe benching, sloping, and trenching practices in compliance with OSHA standards.
+ Load trucks, move spoil, and assist with backfill and compaction support as needed.
+ Conduct daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues immediately.
+ Maintain awareness of underground utilities and follow all utility‑locate markings.
+ Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe for ground crews.
+ Assist laborers and pipe layers when equipment is not in use.
