About the Role About Practicing the Way Practicing the Way exists to help churches form lifelong apprentices of Jesus. We aim to reclaim an ancient path of apprenticeship to Jesus for the modern church. In a culture marked by hurry, distraction, and fragmentation, we create free resources to help people be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did. We serve churches, communities, and individuals by integrating spiritual practices and rhythms drawn from Jesus' life into everyday life. Our Vision for this Role The Executive Assistant will serve as a strategic partner in our Founder's Office, ensuring that leadership work, vision, and priorities are supported, ordered, and protected. This isn't just about managing tasks-it's about stewarding time and margin, bridging mission and operations, and serving in a high-demand environment. You'll help align calendar, communications, projects, travel, and creative work with the mission and priorities of Practicing the Way. Specifics for What This Role Does Calendar & Time Management Steward and manage the Founder's complex calendar, ensuring alignment with mission, priorities, and personal rhythms Proactively anticipate needs, manage scheduling conflicts, and buffer distractions Arrange personal solitude retreats Communications & Correspondence Oversee Founder's email and all incoming correspondence Facilitate communication internally (team) and externally (partners, donors) with clarity and care Uphold confidentiality, discretion, and high emotional intelligence in all interactions Travel & Logistics Coordination Coordinate travel, speaking engagements, media appearances, and event logistics Partnership & Stakeholder Liaison Serve as liaison with publishing partners, agents, editors, external stakeholders Content & Creative Project Support Support creative content workflows: helping track deadlines, edits, reviews, launch logistics Events & Hospitality Assist with hosting various events and retreats Assist with hosting events and offering hospitality from Founder's home or surrounding area Help facilitate small church meetings on a weekly basis Administrative & Operational Support Manage certain personal administrative needs (as appropriate) to free up space for strategic focus Process all Founder expenses, honoraria, and reimbursements Assist Founder at his home office on a weekly or bi-weekly rhythm Skills & Qualities We're Looking For (Acts 6:3) About the Ideal Candidate Committed Apprentice of Jesus: Your lifestyle reflects the lifestyle of Jesus, and you are continually arranging your life around being with him, becoming like him, and doing what he would do if he were you. Embody and promote a culture of radical hospitality across the organization and on behalf of the Founder Organizational excellence: ability to bring order to complexity and to see both details and broader strategy Initiative and proactivity: ability to anticipate needs and solve problems before they become emergencies Interpersonal and relational wisdom: strong communication skills, tact, humility, and trustworthiness Resilience: thriving under ambiguity, shifting demands, and a high-velocity environment Discretion and integrity: handling sensitive information with the utmost care Follow through on detail Warm, hospitable, kind to the many people we interact with and serve Committed to the spirituality and vision of Practicing the Way Qualifications Prior experience as an Executive Assistant, Chief of Staff, or similar role supporting a senior leader (3 years preferred) Demonstrated excellence in calendar management, travel coordination, and complex scheduling Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Google Workspace, scheduling tools, and expense management systems Experience managing relationships with external partners, vendors, or stakeholders Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle Details Employment Type: Full-time Location: Los Angeles/Topanga Canyon area (in-person role) Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 annual salary based on prior experience and fit for the role. Travel: Must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to drive to various parts of the LA area. Must be willing to travel outside of the area a few times a year for various events.
