Director – Corporate & Institutional Banking (C&IB) Operations
Location: India GCC
Reporting to: Global / Regional Head of C&IB Operations
Level: Director / ED
Role Purpose
The Director – C&IB Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of Corporate & Institutional Banking operations within the India GCC. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across Transaction Banking, Trade & Working Capital, and Markets Operations, ensuring service excellence, operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and continuous transformation for global C&IB clients.
This role acts as a key partner to C&IB bankers, product heads, technology, and risk, and owns the delivery of scale, complexity, and change from the India GCC.
Key Responsibilities
1. End‑to‑End Operations Leadership
- Own global delivery for C&IB operations, including:
- Transaction accounts, payments, deposits, merchant acquiring, and commercial cards
- Trade finance & working capital operations (LCs, guarantees, SCF)
- Markets & treasury operations support (FX, derivatives, commodities)
- Ensure consistent, high‑quality service delivery across regions, products, and client segments
- Drive operational stability, capacity planning, and scalability
2. Risk, Controls & Regulatory Management
- Own first‑line risk & controls for C&IB Operations
- Ensure compliance with AML, sanctions, financial crime, and regulatory requirements
- Lead audit engagements, regulatory reviews, and issue remediation
- Maintain a strong control environment with clear governance, KRIs, and SOPs
3. Client & Business Partnership
- Act as a senior operations partner to C&IB Relationship Managers, Sales, and Product
- Support client escalations, service reviews, and complex transaction resolution
- Contribute to client retention, operating account primacy, and revenue enablement
4. Change, Transformation & Technology Enablement
- Lead process transformation, automation, and digitisation initiatives
- Partner with Technology teams on:
- Platform modernisation and migrations
- Payments, trade, and markets systems enhancements
- Data, reporting, and operational analytics
- Drive productivity, cost optimisation, and risk reduction through change programs
5. People & Leadership
- Lead and develop large, multi‑layered teams (Managers, Senior Managers, VPs)
- Build strong leadership bench strength and succession pipelines
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Manage workforce strategy, skills transformation, and talent retention
6. Governance & Global Stakeholder Management
- Represent India GCC in global C&IB operations governance forums
- Partner closely with onshore operations, product, risk, and technology leaders
- Provide transparent reporting on performance, risk, capacity, and transformation progress

Skills & Experience
Essential
- 22+ years of experience in C&IB / Transaction Banking / Markets Operations
- Proven leadership of large‑scale, complex operations in a global bank
- Strong understanding of payments, trade finance, and/or markets operations
- Deep experience in risk, controls, audits, and regulatory engagement
- Track record of leading transformation and change programs
Preferred
- Prior experience in a Global Capability Center (GCC) environment
- Exposure to global stakeholder management and matrix organizations
- Experience working closely with technology and data teams
- Lean, Six Sigma, or transformation credentials (desirable)
Education
- Graduate / Post‑graduate in Finance, Commerce, Business, or related discipline
