Job Description

The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for shaping the long-term strategic direction of the organization. The role involves evaluating market opportunities, identifying business risks, guiding large-scale transformation initiatives, and aligning organizational goals with the company’s vision—specifically within the petrochemical and manufacturing ecosystem.

The CSO will partner closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, Projects, and R&D to create and execute sustainable growth strategies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Vision

Develop, articulate, and drive the company’s long-term strategic roadmap.

Lead annual and multi-year strategic planning exercises.

Identify emerging trends in the petrochemical, chemical, refinery, and energy sectors that can create competitive advantages.

2. Business & Market Intelligence

Conduct in-depth market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and industry forecasting.

Evaluate potential investment opportunities, new technologies, and business models relevant to the petrochemical industry.

Provide insights on regulatory developments affecting the sector.

3. Growth & Expansion Initiatives

Lead business expansion strategies (new products, new markets, M&A opportunities, JV partnerships).

Oversee feasibility studies for greenfield/brownfield projects.

Collaborate with business development teams to strengthen the company’s market positioning.

4. Organizational Alignment & Execution

Ensure alignment of all departments with the company’s strategic objectives.

Drive cross-functional strategic projects and monitor progress through KPIs and dashboards.

Support the CEO and Board with strategic presentations, reports, and decision-making documentation.

5. Risk Management

Identify business, operational, and financial risks;
propose mitigation frameworks.

Establish strong governance, compliance, and reporting structures.


Required Experience

15–25 years of experience, with at least 8–10 years in the petrochemical / chemical / refinery / polymer industry.

Proven experience in strategic planning, corporate strategy, business transformation, or project feasibility roles.
