What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Director, Talent Acquisition, the Executive Search Recruiter will lead and execute VP-level and other mission-critical searches across Aecon. This is an experienced individual contributor role focused on end-to-end executive recruitment, market mapping, and advisory partnership with senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities:


Executive & Critical Role Search

  • Lead end-to-end searches for VP level and other highly specialized or business-critical senior roles.

  • Partner closely with the executive team and senior stakeholders to define success profiles, competencies, and hiring strategies.

  • Manage confidential and high-stakes searches with discretion and professionalism.
  • Market Mapping & Talent Intelligence

  • Conduct deep market mapping and talent research for executive and niche roles.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with senior-level talent.

  • Provide insights on talent availability, competitor landscapes, and compensation trends.
  • Search Strategy

  • Design customized search strategies.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on executive hiring decisions, trade-offs, and timelines.

  • Influence role design and organizational structure when needed to attract top talent.
  • Assessment & Candidate Experience

  • Conduct in-depth executive interviews and assessments.

  • Ensure a high-touch, best-in-class candidate experience.

  • Guide candidates through complex decision-making processes.
  • Collaboration & Process Excellence

  • Partner with Talent Partners and HR leadership to align executive hiring with overall talent strategy.

  • Help evolve executive recruiting best practices, tools, and processes.
  • Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in executive recruiting or executive search (in-house, search firm, or hybrid background).

  • Proven success leading VP-level and senior leadership searches and demonstrated depth of executive search expertise, influence, and ownership of complex and high-impact hiring efforts.

  • Deep experience in market mapping, talent research, and passive candidate engagement.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

  • High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism.

  • Excellent consulting, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
