Job Description
• WSP is looking for an experienced town planner to join our team to support town planning and consenting inputs on major and nationally significant infrastructure projects. The successful candidates will have demonstrable experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams to secure consent and approvals for major or nationally significant infrastructure projects via the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008 and Transport and Works Act Order. We are also interested to hear from people that have experience in securing consents for major projects by means of the Planning
(Wales) Act 2015, Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act, or the Electricity Act.
• We work at all stages of the consenting process from early feasibility, application preparation and delivery of consents on a variety of projects across the rail, road, energy, water, and local government sectors.
• WSP employees the largest number of chartered town planners across the UK. We are leaders in securing consent for major infrastructure projects and have one of the largest teams of planning, land referencing, environmental and stakeholder engagement professionals specialising in consent applications across all types of infrastructure. • Be part of the Infrastructure Planning team in India (Bengaluru / Noida), work in close collaboration with the UK Infrastructure Planning (IP) team, delivering high-profile projects for private and public sector clients across the UK.
• The selected candidate will contribute towards growing our Infrastructure Planning activities within our India-based team, working in close collaboration with colleagues in the UK to deliver high-quality, integrated outcomes.
• Provide consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects (DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs etc) and providing technical advice to clients and managing their consenting requirements as applicable. Co-ordinating the preparation and submission of consent applications which may include applications under the Town and Country Planning
Acts, the Planning Act 2008 or other regimes (as listed above).
• Project management with effective budgetary control. Desk studies, research, data management and report writing. Leading and supporting business development activities, including the writing of technical components for bids and proposals.

• Organise and manage work in a professional and responsible manner, collaborate closely across multi-disciplinary planning, land and environmental teams; Support Team Leader / Line Manager/ Project Manager for on time completion of tasks assigned to WSP’s expected standards;
• Clear and constant communication (verbal and written) with colleagues in India and the UK on project related technical communication and day-to-day matters, attend and contribute to team and project meetings;
• Work within project constraints; estimating time and budget requirements;
• Take ownership of tasks assigned and research for solutions where required;
• Expand your role to support the management of projects and development / training of staff in in India (Bengaluru/Noida) to grow the capability. Mentor colleagues by supporting them in their work project delivery roles.
• Support Team Leader / Line Manager in planning resources, utilisation, team’s performance and development requirements;
• Contribute to knowledge sharing in internal and external forums.
• Contribute to supporting business development activities, including the writing of technical components for bids and proposals. Explore various business opportunities.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies;

Key Competencies / Skills
• Technical expertise in Urban Planning and multidisciplinary project delivery. In depth knowledge of Town Planning policies, practices and legislation, understanding of environment impact assessment.
• Experience in project management (delivering and managing projects as project manager), supporting business development activities, including the preparation of technical and commercial components for bids and proposals.
• Successful track record of delivery of large infrastructure projects.
• Strategic thinking and commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and client relationship skills
(internal and external).
• Report writing and data analysis: ability to produce and contribute to reports,
presentations, and technical notes in various formats;
• Coordination and teamwork: ability to work as part of a team and to work under guidance and also manage a team;
• Good understanding MS Office applications with focus on Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
• Degree level qualification in Town Planning or relevant field
• Post Graduate qualification in Urban Planning / relevant subject with more than 7 years’ experience preferably UK/Australia/Similar region
• UK/Relevant International experience and/ or understanding of town planning practices in the UK is desirable;
