The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an Intern in Facade Structural Engineering to join our team at Arup Italia in Milan. You will work as part of an international and multidisciplinary team, contributing to projects across Italy and Europe. This internship offers hands-on experience in the structural design of facades and an opportunity to develop broader facade engineering skills over time.
As a Façade engineering Intern at Arup, you will:
Assist in the preparation of drawings and sketches, and contribute to specifications and technical reports
Undertake structural and thermal façade‑related engineering calculations for materials such as aluminium, glass, and steel.
Support the development of façade and roof A&M strategies.
Collaborate with other team members, understanding their needs and maintaining open communication throughout the project development.
Prepare and develop visual presentations, reports, and other documents related to project deliverables.

We're looking for a graduate who is passionate about structural engineering and the design of sustainable facades. We also value:
Recent or about to graduate in Civil or Building Engineering.
Proficiency in structural and thermal analysis and 3D design software, such as Straus7, Mepla, Therm, Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, precision and attention to detail.
Eagerness to learn, a collaborative mindset, and strong communication skills.
Fluent in both English and Italian.
