Job Description – DIW / ETP / STP – Project, Operation & Maintenance Engineer (12–15 Years Experience)

Grade : E3
Experience Required: 12 – 15 Years

Role Purpose
Responsible for end-to-end project execution, commissioning, and sustainable operation & maintenance of DIW (Demineralized / Deionized Water), ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) systems, ensuring compliance to regulatory limits, achieving yield targets, uptime KPIs, and driving continuous improvement for process, energy & cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Commissioning
Design review, P&ID validation and execution support for DIW/ETP/STP projects. Vendor & EPC supervision, technical evaluation, FAT/SAT coordination. Manage equipment installation – RO, UF, softeners, MBR/SBR/MBBR, clarifiers, ion-exchangers, polishing units, ozone/UV, sludge handling systems. Perform performance testing & system qualification. Operational Management
Run day-to-day operations ensuring 24x7 reliable process water quality & discharge compliance. Maintain water chemistry stability: silica/TOC/conductivity/pH/TSS/COD/BOD parameters as per industry norms. Manage chemical dosing control, consumables planning & inventory. Uptime > 99% for DIW plant through preventive & predictive maintenance programs. Maintenance Activities
Prepare annual O&M plan, spares lists and BOM. Identify and troubleshoot process failures, membrane fouling/scaling, pump overload & control issues. Implement RCA, CAPA, FMEA, 5-Why, Kaizen methods. Update SOPs, WI, checklists and deliver technician skill development. Compliance & Documentation
Adhere to PCB norms, ISO14001, ZLD requirements where applicable. Monthly compliance reporting, effluent discharge monitoring & internal audits. Maintain data in SCADA / PLC / DCS logs. Continuous Improvement
Drive energy/water recovery improvement initiatives. Optimize chemical usage and total cost of ownership. Identify opportunities for automation, digitalization & Industry analytics for utilities. Required Skills / Technical Competencies
Expertise in DIW/UPW generation, RO/EDI/Mixed-bed polishing Strong hands-on with ETP & STP unit operations Membrane technology experience (RO/NF/UF/MBR) Good understanding of SCADA / PLC troubleshooting Knowledge of ISO 45001 / 14001 / EMC guidelines Ability to interface with EPCs, OEMs & regulators Qualification
/ – Chemical / Mechanical / Environmental / Industrial Engineering (Preference to candidates with DIW, UPW system exposure in semiconductor/pharma facilities)
