Overview

Medispec is seeking a Field Application Scientist (FAS) to provide expert-level training, support, and application optimization for our advanced range of instruments, including Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), Flow Cytometers, Seahorse XF Analyzers, Imaging & Multimode Microplate Readers (MMR), etc.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site training and optimization for end-users and sales teams on advanced scientific instruments.
  • Provide scientific and technical support to customers, sales teams, and product management.
  • Develop expert-level proficiency in instrument software and stay updated on emerging assays.
  • Lead customer demonstrations, optimizing experimental workflows and troubleshooting assays.
  • Support customers in cell-based assay design and optimization, including metabolic and immunological applications.
  • Assist in data generation for Application Notes on new and emerging applications.
  • Represent Medispec at industry conferences, vendor shows, and scientific seminars.
  • Maintain detailed reports in CRM systems to track customer interactions, training sessions, and field activities.



Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Advanced degree (M.Sc. / Ph.D.) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related life science field.


Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in an imaging core lab, flow cytometry, cell culture, or high-content screening (HCS) environment.
  • Prior experience in cell culture techniques (adherent and suspension cells) and cell-based assay development.
  • Exposure to immunology-based assays (ELISA, ELISpot, flow-based immunophenotyping, or cytokine analysis) is a strong plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in Flow Cytometers, Microscopy, Imaging, and HCS instrumentation.
  • Strong knowledge of SPR, fluorescent imaging, widefield and confocal microscopy.
  • Experience with fluorescence and luminescence-based assays (TRF, FRET, AlphaScreen, FP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in image analysis software (ImageJ, CellProfiler, or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for instrumentation and assay optimization.
  • Advanced computer and data analysis skills; experience in LIMS preferred.



Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer training and support.
