Field Operations Architectural Consultant

Location: Rosemont, IL & Chicagoland Area

Job Type and Duration: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm

Pay Range: $/hr – $/hr (based on experience)

Schedule: Hybrid – days in the Rosemont office (core hours : AM – : PM), occasional days at the Chicago office, days remote, plus regular site visits across the Chicagoland area

Job Summary

Our client, a leading engineering and architectural consulting firm specializing in building envelope systems (roofs, façades, windows, waterproofing, and pavements), is seeking a Field Operations Architectural Consultant to join their growing team. This position blends hands-on field work with technical design and documentation. It's ideal for candidates with a background in architecture, engineering, construction management, or structural drafting who enjoy working outside the traditional CAD desk environment. The role offers a strong pathway toward project management and client-facing consulting, similar to other successful team members currently placed on-site.

Key Responsibilities

· Conduct site inspections and field investigations to document conditions, measurements, and construction progress

· Prepare field reports, photographs, and inspection summaries for engineering and architectural projects

· Draft and revise AutoCAD/Revit drawings based on field data, sketches, and client requirements

· Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve on-site issues

· Communicate findings to clients and internal project teams with professionalism and accuracy

· Participate in project meetings and contribute to report preparation, testing, and quality documentation

· Represent the firm during client and contractor interactions, serving as a field liaison

· Support continuous improvement in documentation and workflow efficiency

Requirements

· Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit a plus)

· Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided) and clean driving record

· Strong written and verbal communication skills — must be comfortable interacting with clients and contractors

· Comfortable working outdoors year-round (PPE provided)

· Excellent attention to detail and time management

· No fear of heights

Preferred Qualifications

· Field experience in building envelope, façade, or roofing systems

· Prior work in construction, inspection, or site coordination

· Hands-on experience with photography, measurement tools, and digital reporting

· Desire to grow into a consultant or project management role
