Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Service Technician to provide real-time troubleshooting and technical support for industrial automation systems. This fully remote position requires working third shift to ensure 24/7 operational uptime for customers, including high‑volume distribution centers and healthcare fulfillment sites. Candidates should hold an associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field—or possess equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time remote technical support for the company's automation systems, including print‑and‑apply, conveyor, and bagging equipment.
  • Monitor system performance and respond to alerts, alarms, or customer‑reported issues during third shift.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motors, and other control system components using remote diagnostic tools.
  • Collaborate with on‑site personnel to guide mechanical or electrical adjustments and verify proper resolution.
  • Document all support interactions, root causes, and corrective actions in the ticketing system.
  • Escalate unresolved or critical issues to engineering or field service teams when necessary.
  • Participate in knowledge‑sharing activities and contribute to support documentation and training materials.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending long‑term solutions.
  • Essential Skills

  • Two or more years of experience supporting industrial automation systems, preferably in packaging or material handling environments.
  • Strong understanding of PLC logic (., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and industrial control systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills for guiding remote teams and documenting technical issues clearly.
  • Comfortable working overnight hours and participating in an on‑call rotation if needed.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with tension‑based systems, servo motors, and print‑and‑apply technologies is a plus.
  • Work Environment

    This is a third‑shift position, Monday through Friday, with a typical start time around 10–11 PM MST. The role primarily involves phone and email support, with minimal travel required. Training includes approximately 80% virtual learning, with occasional travel to Colorado for hands‑on machine training.

    The position transitions from day shifts during training to night shifts once fully prepared. Technicians benefit from paid travel time and expenses, as well as compensation for phone support even during slower periods.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, CO.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
