    Impact of a FinOps Analyst

As a FinOps Analyst, you apply technical and financial expertise to ensure our cloud infrastructure remains efficient and scalable. You serve as a core contributor to our FinOps practice, translating cloud consumption data into actionable insights that drive measurable cost improvements. By managing the day-to-day unit economics of our cloud environment, you help the organization maintain a healthy balance between innovation and fiscal responsibility.

In this role, you ensure the outcomes for cloud cost management within your domain. You act as a technical bridge between Engineering and Finance, helping teams adopt best practices for resource tagging, commitment utilization, and waste reduction. Your work ensures that our cloud investments are transparent, predictable, and optimized for maximum business value.

    What to expect

  • Operational Execution & Roadmap: Contribute to and execute the FinOps roadmap, ensuring all initiatives align with established business objectives and cloud adoption goals.

  • Reporting & Metrics: Maintain key FinOps metrics and analyze cloud billing data to provide other teams with clear reports on cost drivers and spend variances.

  • Partnership: Partner with our Engineering & Product teams to integrate FinOps principles and cost-efficiency best practices directly into their deployment cycles and decision-making processes.

  • Stakeholder Enablement: Deliver FinOps awareness programs and documentation, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure transparency between technical execution and financial expectations.

  • Financial Controllership: Support Finance teams with accurate usage data for budget forecasting and ensure cloud operations adhere to established financial controls and compliance requirements.

  • Commitment Monitoring: Actively monitor and optimize the utilization of Reserved Instances (RIs), Savings Plans, and Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) across our multi-cloud environment.

  • CSP & Vendor Analysis: Track changes in Cloud Service Provider (CSP) pricing and service offerings to assess potential impacts on our infrastructure and recommend proactive adjustments.

  • Optimization Initiatives: Lead the execution of specific cost-saving projects, using data analysis and experimentation to drive continuous improvement in cloud resource efficiency.
  • What you bring

  • Data Manipulation: Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel/Google Sheets is mandatory. You are comfortable building models with large datasets and using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI) to visualize complex trends.

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in FinOps or cloud cost management, with a strong grasp of how cloud architectural choices impact the bottom line.

  • Cloud Domain Knowledge: Proven experience managing billing and discount mechanisms (RIs, CUDs) across at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Analytical Rigor: The ability to prioritize based on cost fluctuations and break down complex billing data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and financial stakeholders

  • Collaborative Mindset: Great communication skills, resilience and a track record of working effectively within cross-functional teams to improve processes and drive cost-efficiency outcomes.
  • Nice to have

  • An active FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification.

  • An understanding of FOCUS(FinOps Open Cost & Usage Specification) as the emerging standard for cloud billing data.

  • Familiarity with ESG reporting and the ability to correlate cloud efficiency with carbon footprint metrics.
