Job Description
Effectively conduct numerical and physical simulations for the development and accommodation of products. The job includes the planning, preparation, execution and presentation of projects e.g. for the simulation of fluid flows in continuous caster tundishes and moulds in order to develop products for these applications and for adaptation according to customer requirements.
Scope
Conducting numerical flow simulations
Proposing new optimized designs for better steel quality
Utilisation of facilities (water model)
Key Tasks
Preparation of the projects (acquisition of project relevant data)
Planning the test schedule
Execution of the projects
Create and maintain project documents (CAD drawings, test records etc.)
Analysis of the measurements and simulation results
Making of the project documentation
Internal and external presentation of the project results
Customer visits e.g. for data acquisition and verification
Improvement and adaptation of methods
Literature search to support job related tasks (e.g. improvement of methods, introduction of new methods)
Internal and External Contacts
Contact to all internal places
Contact to customers in cooperation with account and product management and to institutes and research facilities of steel plants, universities etc.
Problem Solving and Difficulty Level
Self directed problem solving
Continuous improvement and optimisation of processes
Jointly performing complex tasks with other sites
Knowledge/Experience/Abilities
Education as an engineer
Fluency in spoken and written English
Usage of standard software
Experience in the field of numerical flow simulation especially with the software packages FLUENT and Open FOAM
Basic knowledge of fluid dynamics
Good familiarity with CAD application
