Job Description

Position Summary


The Craft Foreman directs work groups on active railway property and through construction zones. Using specific railway operating rules, instructions and techniques, this position ensures that contractors clear the working zone prior to the approach of a train minimizing any delays to scheduled railway operations.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties


  • · Ensures compliance to railway safety requirements and instructions utilizing a strong understanding of railway safe practices, company policy, and the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) including customer specific procedure as it relates to track protection and identifying emergency situations.


    · Provides instructions to ensure that all workers understand site specific requirements prior to commencing work under protection of Safety Watch/Lone Worker, Rule 841, Rule 842 and Track Occupancy Permit.
