Job Description

Hotel Renmark is seeking an experienced Function Chef to take ownership of the organisation and execution of the majority of functions across our venue. This is a hands-on operational role suited to a chef who thrives in structured service, high-volume events, and collaborative kitchen environments.

Reporting directly to the Head Chef and Executive Chef, the Function Chef will play a key role in delivering weddings, corporate events, conferences, and large-scale private functions, while also contributing to our broader food offering across Nanya Bistro and the Main Bar.

Hotel Renmark is a landmark Riverland destination, operating multiple food and beverage outlets including Nanya Bistro, Main Bar, extensive function spaces, and Temperance Restaurant—our premium dining concept. The hotel hosts a high volume of events year-round and is entering an exciting new phase of culinary development.

The Role

• Planning, organising, and execution of on-site functions

• Managing prep schedules, service flow, and execution for events of varying scale

• Working closely with the Head Chef and Executive Chef on menus, costing, and logistics

• Maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation across all function services

• Supporting service in Nanya Bistro and Main Bar when functions are not scheduled

• Assisting with junior staff supervision, training, and service leadership

• Upholding food safety, compliance, and kitchen standards at all times

About You

• Proven experience as a Function or Events Chef (essential)

• Previous bistro or high-volume service experience (essential)

• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Confidence working independently and as part of a senior kitchen team

• Calm, professional approach during high-pressure service

• Genuine interest in development within a multi-outlet operation

As Temperance Restaurant transitions in 2026 to a series of curated monthly events rather than weekly service, there is a strong opportunity for this role to be involved in planning and delivering these experiences.
