Job description

  • Calculates quantity of materials needed, selects stock, tools and supplies for the repair of hospital buildings
  • Repairs partitions, doors, windows, floors, furniture and building framework consisting of wood or metal, using power tools such as a planer, sander, saws and drills or hand tools such as planes, chisels, hammers, rasps, saws and related equipment 
  • Reads blueprints and specifications 
  • Measures and marks in prescribed dimensions using rulers, tape measures, calipers, compass’ and marking pencils to guide cutting operations
  • Installs sheetrock, linoleum, vinyl and asphalt tile 
  • Cuts and installs Formica as required 
  • May perform related tasks such as replacing windows, ceiling tile, concrete forms, mixing and placing concrete and patching stucco wall surfaces
