Not a Cult is looking for a game developer to join our ranks!

We are Not a Cult, a Helsinki‑based up‑and‑coming game studio currently developing our first major title, WalkScape , a mobile fitness MMORPG that uses the player’s steps to fuel their character’s journey through the fantasy world of Arenum. It is inspired by classic PC MMORPGs and focuses on daily fitness goals. You can learn more on the game’s official website:

As a key player in a small team you will primarily code but may focus on the client (Flutter/Dart), backend (Dart), or other systems (React, SQL, ClickHouse, and more). You will own the features from design through deployment and take initiative in improving our development processes.

Who we are looking for:

Someone with a strong technical background, either through studies or work experience, and an intense passion for video games. Prior experience with our tech stack is advantageous but not mandatory. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, committed to a long‑term role, and interested in ethically sustainable development. The position is full‑time and on‑site at our Helsinki office; flexible hours and occasional remote work are allowed.

Qualifications:

  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Proven coding ability in one or more of the following: Flutter/Dart, Dart (backend), React, SQL, ClickHouse, etc.
  • Demonstrated ownership of software features and collaborative initiative.
