General Manager – Quality

Location: Ahmedabad

Reports to: Operations Head/Business Head

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the plant-wide quality control strategy to ensure compliance with product specifications, international standards (ASTM, ASME, EN, DIN), and customer requirements.


• Establish, implement, and maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001, PED, IBR, and other applicable certifications.

• Oversee quality inspection at all stages: raw materials, in-process, final product, and dispatch.


• Supervise testing processes including Hydro Test, Eddy Current Test, Ultrasonic Test, PMI (Positive Material Identification), Mechanical & Chemical Testing.


• Lead metallurgical and dimensional control to ensure strict adherence to customer specifications.

• Ensure zero defect delivery and quick resolution of customer complaints.


• Lead customer audits, approvals, and coordinate Third Party Inspections (TPI) including agencies like Lloyds, TUV, BVQI, DNV, etc.


• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues.


• Drive process control, statistical quality control (SQC), and process audits to minimize variations and improve yield.

• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, PED, and other relevant certifications.


• Manage product traceability, documentation, and certification processes for all manufactured products.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical / Mechanical / Production Engineering. And specialized quality certifications are preferred.


• Minimum 15-20 years of relevant experience in the stainless steel seamless pipe and tube manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.


• Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes, stainless steel grades, cold and hot finishing, heat treatment, and NDT techniques.


• Expertise in dealing with TPIs, global customers, and certification agencies.
