General Surgeon – MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, a leading academic medical center and part of the MedStar Health system, is seeking an outstanding Board-Certified/Board-Eligible General Surgeon to join our Department of Surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a dynamic clinical environment while contributing to education, innovation, and research in one of the nation's premier teaching hospitals.

Position Highlights



  • Clinical Focus: A mix of elective general surgery (including abdominal wall, foregut, hernia, and complex abdominal procedures) and acute care surgery (emergency general surgery).


  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering the highest quality surgical care in the region.


  • Academic Engagement: Serve as faculty for Georgetown University School of Medicine, teaching medical students and residents in one of the most respected academic training programs in the country.


  • Call Coverage: Shared call schedule for acute care surgery.

Qualifications


  • MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery.

  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in general surgery, acute care surgery, foregut, abdominal wall reconstruction, hernia repair preferred

  • Commitment to academic medicine, teaching, mentorship, and research.

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the District of Columbia.

Hiring range for this position is between $300,000-$400,000.
