Key Responsibilities:
Engineering, Product Development & Certification
- Effectively manage engineering integration and improvement projects from concept to commissioning, including planning, utilities, machinery, manpower allocation, and monitoring overall execution to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate and lead product improvement and customization activities, including requirement analysis, specification finalization, design, prototype development, and testing, and collaboration with third parties for execution.
- Execute official Transfer of Technology (ToT) from DRDO for opto-electronic devices in accordance with approved agreements and technical documentation.
- Identify, evaluate, and maintain information on local and global OEMs for all product components, including casings, optical components, Image Intensifier (II) tubes, thermal cores, electronics, and thermal lenses.
- Maintain regular coordination and communication with Ordinance Factory Department, IRDE, BEL, DGQA, and other relevant government and Defence agencies.
- Ensure product certification through ETDC/NABL Accredited Lab/DGQA or other authorized agencies in compliance with JSS-5855-11-2009 (latest revision) and applicable standards.
- Obtain and maintain required national and international certifications for opto-electronic products.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive digital and physical technical library, including books, research papers, journals, and reference documentation.
Engineering Facility Development & Upgrade
- Establish and manage repair, maintenance, and lifecycle support facilities.
- Develop in-house customization and upgrade capabilities.
- Conduct competitor product benchmarking and technical analysis.
- Establish and develop in-house facilities for customization and upgradation of devices, including thermal cores, Image Intensifier (II)–based devices, and related sub-systems.
- Manage engineering infrastructure budgets.
Production
Lead production operations to achieve timely delivery, quality, cost, and capacity targets.
- Lead production operations in line with AOP and management-defined targets.
- Responsible for facility planning, machine selection, capacity enhancement, and infrastructure expansion.
- Drive process improvement, re-engineering, and productivity enhancement initiatives.
- Oversee maintenance of all machines, utilities, and technical assets.
- Conduct management review meetings and present order status, capacity outlook, and production planning.
- Lead commercial and infrastructure planning aligned with ramp-up and future business requirements.
- Final approval for Validation of Registration process and documentation related to all Govt, Defence and Research establishments.
- Build and maintain strong brand equity among customers, suppliers, OEMs, and employees.
Strategic Sourcing & OEM Partnerships
Strengthen supply chain resilience through strategic partnerships and indigenous sourcing.
- Lead negotiations and finalization of strategic tie-ups with indigenous and global OEMs.
- Enable in-house manufacturing and outsourcing strategies based on cost, quality, and lead-time optimization.
- Support indigenization initiatives aligned with National Defence Policies.
NABL Laboratory & Accreditation Management
Establish and sustain NABL-accredited testing and calibration facilities.
- Ensure documents compliance with NABL, MIL STD, JSS, IS, and related standards.
- Secure and maintain NABL accreditation for testing and calibration facility for performance & environmental parameters of thermal, night vision, and optical devices.
- Liaise with NABL, QCI, NPL, ETDC, CQA(I), DGQA, and other accreditation agencies.
- Develop NABL lab as a strategic support and business enabler.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Sales and Production for tender and bidding support.
- Maintain professional relationships with senior government and certification authorities.
Knowledge Management & Capability Building
1. Develop and maintain advanced technical documentation for:
- Uncooled and cooled thermal imaging devices
- Image Intensifier Tube–based devices
- Day optical devices
2. Create and update documentation on emerging technologies, including ICCD, EMCCD, Lasers, CMOS, LWIR, MWIR, and SWIR systems.
3. Prepare structured training modules for Sales, Operations, and Support teams to enhance product understanding and application knowledge.
4. Develop and maintain engineering drawings for all products in accordance with design and manufacturing requirements.
5. Document comprehensive assembly procedures, testing methods, and validation processes for all devices.
Credential Development & Strategic Programs
Strengthening organizational credibility and future pipeline through certifications and collaborations.
1. Establish DSIR-recognized R&D facility.
2. Establish NABL-accredited test and calibration facilities.
3. Collaborate with DRDO/CSIR for testing and joint development.
4. Create certified training infrastructure.
5. Plan and execute projects funded by TDB and similar agencies.
6. Secure Defence business opportunities through Directorate of Indigenisation.
7. Obtain technical clearances as a manufacturer from BEL, OFB, DGQA, and related bodies.
Job Specifications
- Candidate must be B.tech/ M.tech – Electronics.
- Experience should be more than 10yrs
- Should have strong skills in documentation and communication, both written and verbal.
- Proven experience in product management, with a focus on delivering successful product lifecycles.
- Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and basic AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Skilled in using Altium, LTSpice, Oracle, Cadence, and other essential electronic design and simulation tools.
