Government Liaison Manager

Role: Manager - State Government Liaisoning (Maharashtra)

Role Objective

The Manager - State Government Liaisoning will lead Jio University's engagement with the multiple ministries within Government of Maharashtra, state regulatory authorities and local administration to strengthen institutional positioning, regulatory readiness, accreditation processes, and strategic alignment with Maharashtra's higher education, skill development and innovation ecosystem.

The role will play a critical part in enabling institutional growth, regulatory compliance, state partnerships, and participation in key Government of Maharashtra initiatives across education, skills, research, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Government of Maharashtra Engagement & Strategic Liaisoning

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key departments and authorities of the Government of Maharashtra, including:
• Higher & Technical Education Department
• School Education & Sports Department
• Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Innovation Department
• Planning Department and Finance Department
• Urban Development and local municipal authorities
• Act as the primary interface between Jio University and the State Government for all regulatory, academic, infrastructure, and partnership-related matters.
• Represent the University in meetings, reviews, inspections, and consultations with state authorities, universities, and statutory bodies.
• Support institutional expansion, new campuses, academic programs, and infrastructure projects through proactive engagement with state and local authorities.

Candidate Profile

• Graduate / Postgraduate Public Policy, Public Administration, Education Management, Political Science or related discipline.
• 8-10 years of experience in government relations, regulatory liaisoning or institutional governance - with strong exposure to Government of Maharashtra systems .
• Proven working relationships with Maharashtra state departments, higher education directorates, and local authorities in Mumbai region preferred.
• Hands-on experience in handling:
• State-level approvals and NOCs
• Higher education regulations and governance in Maharashtra
• Infrastructure and municipal clearances (preferred)
• Strong understanding of Maharashtra's higher education, skill development, and innovation ecosystem.
• Excellent policy analysis, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• High integrity, discretion, and ability to operate effectively in complex government environments.
