About the role

As a Group Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and managing merchandise ranges across key jewellery categories for one of Australia’s most iconic retail groups. Reporting to the Group Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing profitable, competitive product assortments that align with brand strategy, customer expectations and financial objectives. This role combines strategic buying, supplier management, promotional planning and hands-on support to stores, working closely with Buying, Marketing, e-Commerce and Retail teams nationwide.

What will you do?

• Develop and manage end-to-end product ranges, including pricing, assortment size, presentation and lifecycle management.
• Implement short and long-term buying and pricing strategies to achieve sales, margin and stock turn targets.
• Source and negotiate with local and overseas suppliers to secure competitive pricing, exclusivity and favourable terms.
• Analyse sales, margin and stock performance, identifying opportunities and taking corrective action where required.
• Plan and manage promotional product aligned with marketing campaigns and brand strategy.
• Collaborate with Marketing on packaging, displays, VM initiatives, training material and advertising compliance.
• Provide hands‑on merchandise support to stores, including store visits, product guidance and issue resolution.
• Lead and support Merchandise and/or Administration Assistants while contributing to broader divisional strategy.

What skills and experience do you need?

• 5+ years’ experience as a Buyer within fashion and/or fine jewellery.
• Proven experience in overseas product sourcing, design and development (including packaging where relevant).
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated experience with promotional planning and execution.
• Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail and commercial insight.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and strong systems aptitude.
• Sound business and financial acumen, including stock planning and forecasting.
• Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills, with a hands‑on, results‑driven approach.
