HCA - Day Surgery Ward

Overview

As a Healthcare Assistant in the Day Surgery Unit, you will play a key role in supporting patients through their day case pathway, from admission to discharge. Using your previous acute ward experience, you will work closely with the nursing and medical teams to deliver safe, efficient and compassionate care in a fast paced hospital environment, helping to ensure a smooth and positive experience for every patient.

Main duties

You will support registered nurses and consultants in the delivery of safe, high quality care for patients attending the Day Surgery Unit, assisting with patient preparation, recovery and discharge. The role includes undertaking clinical observations, supporting routine procedures such as ECGs, urinalysis, phlebotomy and wound care once trained and competent, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring high standards of infection prevention and control.
