Summary

/Objective:TheApplicationsEngineertakes standard Samtec products and modifies them to fit customer application.Theywork with the Customer, Product and Process Engineers to define designs and solutions that will meet customer requirements.Daily interaction with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Quoting, Marketing and Managementforstandard Samtec products and modifies them to fit customer application.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Correspond with customer topropose anddesign the correctsolutionfor their application
  • Review requests from customers.
  • Assigncustom partnumbers.
  • Enter engineering change requests (ECRs).
  • Field other technical questions that may roll over.
  • Review prints to ensure the design meets the customerrequirements, and is good for use in production.
  • Generate product cost sheets to be used for quoting purposes.
  • Must know the characteristics of a wide breadth of products and components.
  • Define product concepts with customers.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Product Manager on needs and trends related to customer designs.
  • Provide monthly status updates on customer interactions.
  • Some travel to customers and trade shows, etc. may be required.

    Required Experience:

  • 3-5 Years’ Experience in Inside Sales, Technical Sales is required with experience in modifying or customizing products desired.
  • Strong attention to detail required for such activities as reviewing customer requirements, statements of work and detailed drawings/prints.
  • Project management of the Samtec product solution from concept/quote through product release to production.
  • Communication skills and a high level of service are essential.Beyond direct customer interaction, this role interacts with all departments within Samtec, Inc. (Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Quality, Operations, .
  • Experience workingin the connector industryis desired.
  • Technical background is required.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.

    • Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,other technical discipline,or equivalent work experience.

    • Language Skills

  • English: Business. Intermediate or above.

    5-minute walk from Shin-Yokohama.

    Work Hours

    9:00 . to 5:30 . (1-hour break).

    FLEX System.

    Average monthly overtime: 10 hours or less.

    *Global meetings may occur 1-2 times per month during evening hours.

    Salary

    Determined based on previous employment and experience.

    (Monthly salary includes a fixed overtime allowance for 20 hours)

    Bonus: 3 times a year.

    Salary review system (once a year).

    Annual holidays

    125 days.

    Includes Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, 4 days of summer vacation, and 4 days of New Year's vacation.

    Paid leave

    10–20 days.

    (10 days granted after 6 months of employment)

    Welfare

    Health insurance, welfare pension, employment insurance, retirement allowance system (applicable after 3 years of service).

    Transportation expenses up to 30,000 yen reimbursed.

    Process

  • Document screening.
  • 2–3 interviews (offline, online) *At least one online interview will be conducted in English.
  • Aptitude test (KOLBE).

    • Samtec Japan LLC has a total of 23 employees, including an engineering team, a sales team, and customer service, administrative, and laboratory staff.
