Job Description – Head of Air Exports & Forwarding

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Reporting To: Branch Head – Gujarat

Role Summary

We are looking for a senior leader to head the Air Export & Forwarding division for our Gujarat region. The role carries full responsibility for operations, profitability, compliance, airline relations, and team leadership, while working closely with Sales, MIS, and Finance/Credit Control teams.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Profitability

• Own the P&L for Air Export & Forwarding in Gujarat and deliver budgeted revenue, tonnage and margins.
• Support Sales with market intelligence, pricing inputs, and client retention strategies.
• Negotiate and maintain strong relationship with airlines, GSA’s and Custodians, and Ensure regular visits to the airlines and GSA as decided

Operations & Compliance

• Lead end-to-end air forwarding operations: booking, MAWB/HAWB issuance, consolidations, uplift, and POD.
• Ensure 100% compliance with DGCA, IATA, Customs, DGR and SEZ regulations.
• Oversee handling of time-sensitive, pharma, DG, and perishable cargo.
• Checking the ADR daily and addressing any issues immediately. Branch head should be updated on serious matters, and act on escalation. All serious matters should also be brought to the attention of the COO
• Ensure the service excellence parameters are achieved for AEC and AEF
• Ensure establishing of SOP’s and adherence to the same

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor the Air Export operations & documentation team.
• Define KPIs and ensure process discipline, service quality, and compliance.
• Drive training and staff development.

Coordination & Controls

• Work closely with Sales for client acquisition/retention.
• Visit customers with sales to close business, regular visits to the top customers
• Align with the MIS team for performance reporting and analysis.
• Coordinate with Credit Control & Finance to ensure accurate billing, cost control, and timely collections.

Candidate Profile

• 10–15 years of experience in air freight forwarding / air exports, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of air cargo booking processes (MAWB/HAWB, consolidations, block space).
• Practical exposure to documentation, compliance, and operations at Ahmedabad/Gujarat ACC.
• Excellent leadership, client service, and crisis management skills.
• Proven track record in operations, airline relations, ability to deliver results in a competitive forwarding market.
