Responsibilities:

  • Create and drive holistic strategy for developer experience across SDKs, APIs, Docs, MCP, and other AI tools/platform to deliver great developer experience. You’ll work closely with the Documentation and the Developer Experience PM and Engineering teams to make it easier and simpler for new and existing developers to use our SDKs, APIs, Docs and AI tools. 

  • Create, implement and scale the technicalasset strategy and operational plan including the overall developer communications strategy and messaging strategy

  • Develop and lead a high-performing, cohesiveteam of developerswho understands and executes against a shared vision and evangelizes PayPal’s features, products and services 

  • Drive platform configurability and extensibility for developer enablement globally

  • Drive platform scale for improved global expansion, ensuring robust support for the developers’ rapid growth

  • Develop deep partnerships with PayPal Product stakeholders to build solution based use cases and content that supports our growth

  • Tightly integrate with other PayPaltechnology and product leaders to drive consistency in our technical assets

  • Provide a framework and vision for PayPal teams to coalesce around to build and distribute technical assets, including demos, apps, videos and blogs

  • Drive change in corporate policies that prevent collaboration and sharing of technical assets with external developer communities

  • Identify and drive automation, needed tools, and improvements across the team

  • Your team will be responsible for:

  • Being the voice of the developer to architect and drive changes and improvements in SDKs, APIs, Docs and web to enable developers to quickly onboard and begin transacting

  • Develop deep trust with developers and encourage evangelism and advocacy from external developers

  • Writing code, architecting and developing apps, writing technical blogs, creating technical videos, demos, and tutorials

  • Being the developer evangelist by speaking at 3rd party developer conferences, hackathons, local meet ups, and PayPal’s developer events, as well asfacilitating virtual webinars and tutorials

  • Build and distribute tools and automation to gain efficiencies

  • Qualifications:

  • 10+ years managing a team of developers and delivering against a roadmap

  • 10+ years of experience developing in frontend and web commerce technologies, including open-source frameworks, API and SDKs

  • 5+ years architecture and design experience for web commerce

  • 5+ years in a developer relations or product team

  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of PayPal products and services and its ecosystem

  • Demonstrated knowledge of leading open-sourcetechnologies, especially those used in the FinTech industry

  • Demonstrated success building, leading and scaling cross functional and global teams

  • Strong project and program management capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to simplify complex architectures and solutions providing an easy pathto developers no matter their experience level or background

  • Excited about coaching and mentoring others

  • Able to drive cross-team and cross-functional collaboration to solve problems, innovate and improve developer experience

  • Experience in non-technical aspects including business analysis and process optimization

  • A deep-seated passion for technology and a proven track record of engaging with technical communities.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex concepts (e.g., API structures, security protocols, payments flows) clearly and persuasively in written, verbal, and code forms.
  • Experience in software development, technical writing, solutions architecture, or a prior Developer Relations role.
  • The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is: 

    Primary Location | Pay Range: 

    San Jose, California | $218,000 - $286,850

    Additional Location(s) | Pay Range: 

    Chicago, Illinois | $198,000 - $260,550

    Austin, Texas| $198,000 - $260,550

    Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
