Job Description – Sr. Profile (Logistics)
Location: Head Office (HO)
Coverage: Shyam Metalics- Pakuria & Giridih Units, Shyam SEL & Ram Swarup Plant
Reporting To: Director RM

Role Objective
To lead and optimize end-to-end logistics operations across multiple plants, ensuring seamless raw material and finished goods movement aligned with production schedules and customer delivery commitments, while driving cost optimization, operational efficiency, and digital transformation.
Technical: Strong Expertise in transportation and production Management, SAP/TMS/WMS systems, Data Analysis, Vendor Negotiation, e-Tendering.
Leadership: Strong Leadership and People Management, Stakeholders Management, Problem Solving mindset, adaptability in dynamic environments & excellent communication & Negotiation.
Key Responsibilities & KRAs
1. Logistics Planning & Execution
- Plan and manage inbound raw material and outbound finished goods logistics in line with plant production schedules and sales dispatch plans.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials to avoid production disruption and meet customer delivery timelines.
- Synchronize logistics plans with Production, Sales, Commercial, and Plant Operations teams.
2. Route & Fleet Optimization
- Streamline routes to reduce transit time, freight cost, and turnaround time.
- Optimize vehicle utilization, load planning, and fleet productivity across locations.
- Develop contingency logistics plans for peak demand and disruptions.
3. Cost Optimization & Budget Control
- Drive freight cost reduction through rate rationalization, modal mix optimization, and improved planning.
- Prepare, monitor, and control logistics budgets at group level.
- Implement cost benchmarking against industry standards and best practices.
4. Vendor & Partner Management
- Develop balanced and long-term engagement with transporters, logistics partners, and fleet operators.
- Lead vendor negotiations, rate finalization, SLA management, and performance reviews.
- Identify and onboard reliable logistics partners to ensure scalability and risk mitigation.
5. Digital Enablement & Process Improvement
- Implement and leverage digital logistics tools for tracking, MIS, analytics, and performance monitoring.
- Drive process standardization across plants for material flow, documentation, and reporting.
- Use data-driven insights to improve service levels, visibility, and decision-making.
6. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop logistics teams across multiple plant sites and HO.
- Build a strong internal logistics function with clear roles, accountability, and performance metrics.
- Promote safety, compliance, and continuous improvement culture.
7. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements related to logistics and transportation.
- Manage operational risks, delays, and disruptions proactively.
