A Snapshot of Your Day

Packaging Head is responsible for overseeing all aspects of packaging processes, ensuring that products are packaged efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of packaging technologies and materials. Packaging scope relates to integration of core compressors with MBO, Piping, instrumentation and controls followed by mockup, string test and performance test to provide complete compression solution to customers

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Packaging process management: Oversee all daily packaging operations to ensure products are packaged efficiently, safely, and on schedule. This includes managing the flow of finished goods from the production line to the packaging area.
  • Strategic planning: Develop and implement packaging strategies that reduce costs, minimize waste, and incorporate sustainable practices without compromising product quality.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of packaging-related non-conformances (NCCs) to identify underlying causes (RCA), implement corrective and preventive actions, and maintain comprehensive records. Ensure timely resolution of issues to minimize recurrence and drive a culture of accountability and continuous quality improvement.
  • Design and development: Lead the design and development of protective and cost-effective packaging solutions.
  • Team leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor the packaging team. This includes hiring, training, and evaluating performance to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Multi-functional collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Engineering, Machine Shop, Assembly, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, to ensure a seamless workflow and alignment with company goals.
  • Drive development of intercompany and external packaging site development in terms of processes, quality, cost and capability development
  • Embrace lean methodologies and digital technologies to streamline packaging operations and drive continuous improvements in efficiency.
  • Quality and compliance: Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all packaging meets or exceeds industry standards and regulatory requirements. Inspect finished packages for conformance to specifications.
  • Budget and inventory management: Manage the department's budget and oversee the inventory of all packaging materials and equipment.
  • Process improvement: Analyze packaging metrics and performance data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions and drive automation where possible to enhance efficiency.
  • Vendor management: Build and maintain relationships with packaging suppliers and external vendors to source materials and keep up with new technology.
  • What You Bring

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Candidates should have 15+ years’ experience in packaging or operations management within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience with heavy machinery or industrial equipment is a significant advantage.
  • Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of packaging materials, machinery, processes, and design principles is essential.
  • Leadership and management skills: The role requires excellent leadership, team-building, and organizational skills to manage a diverse team and prioritize demanding workloads.
  • Problem-solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary to solving issues and optimize processes effectively.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills are vital for coordinating with different departments and reporting progress to senior management.
  • Continuous improvement mentality: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly valued.
