About the Role


Springer Nature is committed to advancing the integrity and rigour of research worldwide. You will implement strategic initiatives to build external partnerships focused on improving research integrity with research organisations, funding bodies, and academic institutions. Your work will shape global best practices, strengthen trust in scholarly publishing, and help deter breaches of research integrity.


Reporting to the Director, Research Environment Alliances, you will collaborate with Academic Affairs, the Research Integrity Group (RIG), and editorial teams to help develop and implement systems that enable collaborative communication with external stakeholders on integrity concerns. While the role has a global remit, initial focus will be on India and China.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation and development


- Under the direction of the Director, Research Environment Alliances, contribute to the development of and implement a strategic outreach plan to strengthen research integrity and reduce integrity breaches in submissions to Springer Nature.


- In collaboration with internal stakeholders, use diverse data sources (such as the Retraction Watch database, and internal databases) to map global integrity trends and identify high-risk areas by institution, funder, discipline, and region.


- Help define priorities and outcomes for alliances that deliver measurable impact on research integrity.

Stakeholder Engagement


- Help identify the key stakeholders within research organisations who will help us put in place the things we need to proactively prevent breaches in research integrity.


- Build and maintain relationships with institutional leaders, funders, and research integrity officers to co-create solutions that address systemic challenges.


- Be a trusted liaison between Springer Nature and research institutions to implement processes for identifying and addressing integrity concerns.


- Contribute to the development of collaborations that enhance Springer Nature’s reputation as a leader in research integrity.

Thought Leadership & Capacity Building


- Represent Springer Nature at conferences, working groups, and industry forums to advocate for best practices in research integrity.


- Lead initiatives such as surveys, training programs, and thought pieces to support researchers in adopting rigorous and transparent practices.


- Contribute to the development of educational resources on integrity, open science, reproducibility, and research assessment.

Experience & Skills


- Proven experience in academic research and scholarly publishing.


- Demonstrated ability to address or prevent research integrity issues.


- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data interpretation and trend analysis.


- Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills across diverse cultures.


- Skilled communicator with experience in presenting to senior audiences and influencing decision-making.


- Highly self-motivated, collaborative, and outcome-oriented, with a strong personal commitment to integrity.

Qualifications


- A first degree is required; an advanced degree and/or equivalent experience in scholarly publishing is preferred.
