About the Role

We're looking for a Head of Solution Engineering to lead a team of Solution Engineers and own the technical pre-sales function end to end. You will design and present customized technical solutions for customers, acting as the key bridge across Sales (AE/BD), Product, Engineering, and customer-facing teams.

In this role, you'll translate complex technical capabilities into clear, evaluable, and implementable customer value, helping accelerate deal progression and improve adoption success. This position is both hands-on and managerial: you will build team methodologies and standards to delivery quality and efficiency, while also personally driving critical opportunities and flagship projects—from discovery and solution design to technical alignment and executive communication—to ensure measurable business outcomes.

What You'll Do

Pre-sales leadership & critical project ownership

  • Partner with AE/BD to lead technical discovery and solution progression for mid-to-high complexity opportunities (current-state assessment, pain points, constraints, success metrics).
  • Tailor communication strategies for different stakeholders (CEO/CTO, business, product/engineering), and deliver solution presentations and technical demos.
  • Lead PoC/Pilot planning and execution: define acceptance criteria, design test plans, coordinate internal resources, synthesize results, and provide next-step recommendations (risks/assumptions/alternatives).
  • Work closely with Customer Success and Customer Support as the escalation owner for major cases: quickly pinpoint issues, propose feasible solutions, align expectations internally/externally, and keep delivery on track.

Team management & delivery quality improvement

  • Plan team coverage, ownership, and resource allocation to maintain quality and timelines across parallel workstreams.
  • Establish and run a proposal/solution review mechanism to validate feasibility, cost, and risk—reducing gaps between pre-sales commitments and delivery realities.
  • Build operating rhythms (weekly syncs, opportunity reviews, internal rehearsals, knowledge sharing) to improve collaboration efficiency and transparency.
  • Support hiring, onboarding/training, coaching, and talent development to strengthen team autonomy and continuous growth.

Cross-functional collaboration & technical insights

  • Align with PM/Engineering on customer needs and priorities; provide concrete use cases, impact assessment, and feasible approaches to drive execution.
  • Build a clear handoff process with AE/BD/Customer Support (pre-sales context, PoC results, risks, scope/commitments) to reduce implementation friction.
  • Stay on top of trends in cloud, cybersecurity, CDN/edge computing, and AI applications; convert insights into solution strategy and value messaging.
  • Develop strong partnerships with vendor/principal technical teams to stay current on product updates, roadmaps, and best practices—then translate them into differentiated customer value propositions.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven ability to independently lead the end-to-end pre-sales process.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following domains, with the ability to integrate across domains to deliver end-to-end solutions:

  • CDN / network acceleration

  • Cloud infrastructure
  • Network security / cybersecurity
  • Data platforms / databases
  • AI and applied AI use cases

  • Strong communication and executive-level presentation skills; effective cross-functional influence and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to produce high-quality pre-sales materials (solution proposals, decks, demos, PoC plans/results, etc.).
  • 6+ years of experience in Solution Engineering / Sales Engineering / Solutions Architect / Pre-sales (or equivalent).
  • 2+ years of people management or tech lead experience (scoping ownership, quality bar, mentoring/coaching, feedback).
