Job Description

I am working with something called Shannon's transformation. I need help understanding how it works. It is in regards to 2 types of ciphers. A Vigenère and an Autokey. I understand how those 2 ciphers work. Can explain if needed. The transformation involves changing one into the other without knowing the key or plain text. The notations in the article are not clear to me. I need someone with experience understanding mathematical notations to help me understand what is happening. Voice meeting is required but video is not.
