Job Description

DEPARTMENT: Operations/Site REPORTS TO: Rigging Operations Manager Overall Responsibilities:
  • Utilize wire rope, cordage, chain, connecting hardware, hoisting devices, slings and other rigging hardware.
  • Ensure a safe work environment & comply with all OHS regulations, HR policies & industry best practices.
  • Have a teamwork-based attitude.
  • Communicate verbally in a clear & concise manner.
  • Demonstrate patience, sensitivity and tolerance towards other people’s needs.
  • Follow instructions & ask for clarification if unclear about the objective.
  • High steel rigging for arena/stadium shows (100’+)


    Safe use of Fall Protection equipment when working at height to access building structure (eg. horizontal lifelines, full-body harness, Y-lanyard)
    Raise and safely secure rigging points as directed by Ground Rigging team


    Inspect & verify installation or rigging points. Make adjustments to show rigging as directed by Ground Rigging team


    Safely remove rigging equipment


    May also assist the Ground Rigging team with assembling various types of rigging steel (eg. baskets, deadhangs, chokes), running motors and hanging truss
  • Lift rigging for corporate shows


    Access building structure using MEWP, ladder or scaffolding


    Safely secure rigging equipment to fixed engineered point or building structure


    Inspect & verify installation or rigging points. Make adjustments to show rigging as directed by Ground Rigging team


    Safely remove rigging equipment


    Create ground support towers/structure


    May also assist the Ground Rigging team with assembling various types of rigging steel (eg. baskets, deadhangs, chokes), running motors and hanging truss
  • Special Projects


    BC Place secondary roof installations/removals & roof openings/closings


    Permanent installations (indoors & outdoors)


    Inspection, maintenance & repair of rigging equipment


    Training for Jr. staff
  • Qualifications:
  • ETCP certified preferred
  • Rope Access (SPRAT or IRATA) is a benefit
  • Professional experience in Theatre/Arena rigging preferred
  • Experience in the operation of MEWPs is a benefit
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Fall protection certified
  • 2 years minimum post-secondary training (related theatre training)
  • Terms of employment:
  • On-call
  • Casual
  • Varied from week to week
  • Work is cyclical with very busy times and very quiet times
