Position Summary: The Histology Technologist (HT) receives, labels, processes and stains tissues and body fluids. Qualifications: Education: Histology Technologist through one of two ways required: Associate degree in Histology or; Board certified as an MLT, MLS or MT and certified as Histology Technologist Experience: Histology related experience preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration: HT or HTL Board Certification preferred. ASCP certification strongly preferred. Duties & Responsibilities: Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Prepare and maintain all types of equipment used in processing, embedding, and cutting tissue as well as mounting on and labeling slides and blocks. Utilize computer skills that allow for the documentation and retrieval of histology data. Responsible for QA and QI activities as required to maintain the highest of standards. Assists in all procedures that are required in daily operations of the histology lab to meet all CAP requirements. Effectively utilize strong organizational skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
