The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principal historical advisor to the USAFE-AFAFRICA Commander, managing the command's History and Heritage program across its area of responsibility. [Continued in Duties section] Responsibilities Summary Continued: The incumbent balances three critical functions: providing operational historical support directly to the MAJCOM commander, preserving and documenting the command's operations, activities, and investments in compliance with Department of the Air Force requirements, and overseeing and guiding subordinate wing history programs. The Command Historian plays a mission-essential role in operationalizing history to inform command decision-making and operational planning, while ensuring the commander fulfills statutory and regulatory requirements for annual and contingency history reporting.
