A housekeeper's job description includes cleaning and
organizing a variety of spaces, such as homes, hotels, offices, and hospitals:
· Cleaning : Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing
floors, furniture, and fixtures
· Sanitizing : Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms, kitchens, and other
areas
· Stocking : Replenishing toiletries, linens, and other supplies
· Laundry : Washing, drying, ironing, and folding laundry
· Maintenance : Reporting maintenance issues, such as broken light bulbs
· Guest services : Responding to guest requests, providing basic
information, and helping with special requests
· Inventory : Maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment
· Safety : Following safety and sanitation policies
· Organization : Tidying and organizing personal items and belongings
Housekeepers may also run errands, manage wardrobes, and help in
the kitchen. They may work long hours, sometimes outside business hours,
and may be required to live in for domestic housekeeping positions.
Housekeepers should have attention to detail, physical strength,
and the stamina to work long shifts. They should also be able to maintain
a positive relationship with employees and guests.
