Department Overview
The AI & Data Division (AIDD) HR Section works closely with global business leaders across Japan, China, Singapore, the United States, Europe, and India. In strong collaboration with the Global Talent Acquisition Department and regional HR partners, we are responsible for end-to-end people strategies, including talent acquisition, retention, organizational development, and employee experience-customized to meet the dynamic needs of top-tier AI talent.
We are seeking a proactive and capable HR Business Partner based in Tokyo to join our growing AIDD HR Section. This role is pivotal in accelerating our talent acquisition efforts and organizational development needs for AI & Data Division in Japan as well global HR strategic project implementation.
As a key contributor to our expansion in Japan, you will also support local organizational communication, employee engagement initiatives, and cross-border alignment with teams in Japan and other global locations. This position reports to the Senior HRBP Manager based in Tokyo and offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the talent strategy for one of Rakuten’s most rapidly advancing AI and engineering teams.

Position Details
1. Hiring Strategy: Align with managers to define hiring needs, locations, and sourcing approaches with a focus on key positions by monitoring pipelines and expanding sourcing channels.
2. Market Insights: Conduct talent mapping and benchmarking to support hiring and retention strategies.
3. Support global and regional hiring activities, including tracking key metrics, consolidating talent mapping, and assisting with senior-level recruitment.
4. Collaborate with HRBPs on talent initiatives such as talent reviews, succession planning, career development, leadership training, and retention programs.
5. Consolidate and analyze HR data across regions to provide insights for decision-making.
6. Promote organizational culture and engagement through team-building and cross-region initiatives.
7. Contribute to global HR projects and coordinate with stakeholders as required.
Work Environment
Currently, there are 5 members in AIDD HR section based in Japan, meanwhile we have dedicated HRBP to take care of AIDD team in Singapore and are now hiring another HRBP to take care of AIDD team based in China.
As a key player in this team based in Japan, but working with global HRBP members, COE members as well as key business leaders on key HR initiatives such as strategic hiring, retention, engagement, development.
Mandatory Qualifications:
1. Experience in Talent Acquisition, or recruiting program/project roles is desired (Both new graduates and mid-career hires are welcome).
2. Good data analytic skill is desired.
3. Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills in a fast-paced, global tech environment.
4. Business level in both English and Japanese (Written and spoken/An environment where English is used on a daily basis).
Desired Qualifications:
1. In additional to talent acquisition, experience in at least one field of talent development, total rewards, organization development is desired.
2. Experience working with cross-cultural/cross-region team is a plus.
3. Understanding of Japan labor law is a plus Data analysis skills.
