Role Overview

As an HSE Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting project teams to achieve high standards of health, safety and environmental performance. You will provide hands-on, site-based and advisory support, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, company systems and best practice across Commercial, Construction and Civil environments.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors and the wider workforce to proactively identify risks, implement controls and promote a strong safety culture across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Implement, monitor and maintain HSE management systems across multiple projects
• Ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented

Site-Based Safety Support

• Provide practical, on-site HSE advice to project teams, supervisors and subcontractors
• Support pre-starts, toolbox talks, safety meetings and inductions
• Assist with development and review of SWMS, JHAs and risk assessments

Incident Management & Reporting

• Lead or support incident investigations, hazard reporting and root cause analysis
• Prepare clear and accurate safety reports, statistics and documentation
• Ensure timely reporting and close-out of incidents and corrective actions

Training & Engagement

• Deliver HSE training, inductions and awareness programs
• Promote a proactive safety culture through workforce engagement and consultation
• Coach leaders and workers to strengthen safety leadership and accountability

Continuous Improvement

• Identify trends, gaps and opportunities to improve HSE performance
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in systems, processes and site practices
• Support initiatives that enhance wellbeing, risk reduction and safety outcomes

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as an HSE Advisor within Commercial, Construction or Civil projects
• Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and HSE best practice
• Ability to build strong relationships with site teams and stakeholders
• Confident communicator with a practical, solutions-focused approach
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations
• Relevant HSE qualifications (Cert IV WHS minimum; Diploma highly regarded)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across active project sites
