HTB Verger

Historically, vergers were responsible for maintaining the order of church services and the upkeep of church buildings. Gatekeepers in the book of chronicles are a close biblical picture of the role. HTB Vergers are a similar combination of practical facilities management and operational support to our clergy. We prepare our venues to a high standard, welcome all guests, and work alongside our clergy to play an active part in the evangelisation of the nations, the revitalisation of the church and the transformation of society.

As part of this role, you will be expected to do some of the following:

• Protect: Ensuring our grounds are kept safe, including being a designated key holder and only permitting access to buildings only when appropriate
• Prevent: Conducting site safety checks and monitoring potential health and safety hazards
• Present: Being a point of contact for staff and congregation, setting up events, garden maintenance and general DIY. <...
