The Opportunity

Due to growth within the People, Leadership & Culture (PLC) function, we are seeking to appoint two experienced Human Resources Business Partners to join the Human Resources & Workforce Planning team.

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources & Workforce Planning, the HR Business Partner provides high-level, timely and professional HR advice and operational support to the Catholic Education Office (CEO) and schools across South Australia. The role works collaboratively within the broader PLC team to deliver consistent, high-quality, service-oriented people solutions.

Success in this role is characterised by strong judgement, discretion, responsiveness and the ability to manage multiple priorities while contributing to the continuous improvement of CESA’s people practices.

Both positions are full-time (1.0 FTE), permanent positions

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and professional HR advice across a broad range of generalist matters, including employment obligations, policies, procedures and industrial instruments
  • Interpret and support compliance with the Enterprise Agreement and other applicable industrial instruments
  • Partner with school leaders on position description development, indicative tasks and classification assessment in line with industrial provisions
  • Provide guidance and support on employment, engagement, performance management and change initiatives
  • Design, develop and deliver HR and workplace relations training, guidance and knowledge resources to build leadership capability
  • Contribute to the development of HR policies, procedures, guidelines and information materials
  • Support the development and analysis of people reports, analytics and dashboards to inform decision-making
  • Lead and contribute to periodic audits of HR, payroll and workplace relations practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to, and lead where appropriate, HR projects and system-wide initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with the broader PLC team to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery
  • Assist, as required, with Work Health & Safety and Return to Work activities

About You

  • University qualifications in Human Resources, Business Management or a related discipline, or equivalent extensive HR experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a comparable HR advisory or business partner role within a complex setting, preferably within a multi-site environment.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary HR practice and employment legislation, including interpretation of industrial instruments
  • A proactive, flexible and customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with school leaders and stakeholders
  • High levels of judgement, resilience and discretion when managing sensitive and confidential matters
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
