Position Overview

A well?established international logistics company is seeking an experienced Import Manager who is also a Licensed Customs Broker. This role oversees daily import operations, ensures full regulatory compliance, and provides leadership to the import team. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, strong operational management skills, and the ability to work in a fast?paced, deadline?driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all import operations, ensuring timely and compliant processing of shipments
  • Supervise and support the import team, providing training, guidance, and performance oversight
  • Review and file customs entries, including classification, valuation, PGA requirements, and duty calculations
  • Ensure compliance with CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, and other government agency regulations
  • Maintain and update company procedures to align with current customs laws and best practices
  • Communicate with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and government agencies to resolve issues
  • Monitor KPIs, workflow, and operational efficiency
  • Handle escalations related to customs holds, exams, and documentation discrepancies
  • Maintain the company’s customs bond, permits, and broker license requirements
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support import operations

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License required
  • Minimum 5–7 years of import operations experience within freight forwarding or customs brokerage
  • Strong knowledge of HTS classification, Incoterms, PGA requirements, and customs regulations
  • Prior experience managing or supervising an import team
  • Proficiency with import software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem?solving skills
  • Ability to work on-site daily in Valley Stream

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $80,000.00 - $110,000.00
