This is a remote position.
We are seeking an experienced Independent Business Development Representative (1099) to partner with us on a commission-only, revenue-share basis. This role is ideal for sales professionals who excel at outbound prospecting, opening employer relationships, and generating qualified hiring opportunities — without salary, draw, or guaranteed income.
As an Independent Business Development Representative, you are responsible for identifying, engaging, and qualifying employer clients. You control how you prospect and initiate conversations, while we support closing and delivery through our recruiter network once accounts are onboarded. This role has no cap on outreach, qualified accounts, or earnings.
Key Responsibilities
• Prospect and engage employer clients across multiple industries
• Identify and qualify hiring decision-makers and influencers
• Conduct discovery conversations to uncover hiring needs and urgency
• Present recruiting services (contingent, exclusive, retained)
• Support job intake calls and define role requirements with hiring managers
• Convert qualified prospects into signed, onboarded clients
• Maintain ongoing client relationships to generate repeat hiring activity
• Coordinate with recruiters on approved job orders
• Support offer discussions and placement completion
• Maintain accurate client, deal, and placement records in CRM/ATS platforms
Requirements
• Proven experience in B2B sales, staffing sales, business development, or recruiting
• Strong prospecting, qualification, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to independently source and qualify employer opportunities
• Familiarity with CRM and ATS platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Workday, iCIMS, Lever, ADP, SAP, PeopleSoft)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
• Comfortable operating in a commission-only environment
Compensation Structure (Revenue Share Only)
• Compensation is paid as 30% of gross placement revenue generated from your accounts
• Paid only on successful, collected placements
• No hourly pay, salary, draw, retainer, or guaranteed income
• Placement fees are typically 18%–25% of candidate salary
• Commission payout issued per agreed placement terms
Example
• $100,000 candidate salary
• 20% placement fee = $20,000
• Business Development Representative earns 30% = $6,000 per placement
Independent Contractor Classification
• This is a 1099 independent contractor role, not employment
• Business Development Representative controls schedule, prospecting methods, and tools
• Business Development Representative is responsible for taxes, insurance, and business expenses
• No benefits, PTO, or employment guarantees
