Team Leader – MIS (Management Information Systems)

Role Purpose

The Team Leader – MIS is responsible for managing the MIS function, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful reporting to support business decision-making. The role involves leading a team of MIS analysts, driving data quality, automating reports, and acting as a key liaison between business stakeholders and data/reporting teams.

Key Responsibilities

MIS & Reporting

  • Own end-to-end delivery of daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports across assigned business verticals.

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all MIS dashboards and reports.

  • Design, maintain, and enhance automated MIS reports and dashboards (Excel, Power BI, SQL, .

  • Analyze trends, variances, and KPIs, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

  • Standardize MIS definitions, formats, and reporting processes across teams.

  • Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of MIS analysts/executives.

  • Allocate work, track deliverables, and ensure adherence to SLAs.

  • Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and skill development support.

  • Drive process discipline, documentation, and best practices within the team.

  • Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for MIS-related requirements for business and leadership teams.

  • Understand business requirements and translate them into effective MIS solutions.

  • Present reports, dashboards, and insights to senior management.

  • Manage ad-hoc data requests and priority changes effectively.

  • Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual MIS processes and reduce turnaround time.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to data sourcing, validation, and reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with data governance, audit, and control requirements.

  • Key Skills & Competencies

    Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Macros Must To have).

  • Strong experience in MIS reporting and dashboarding.

  • Hands-on experience with BI tools (Power BI / Tableau preferred).

  • Good knowledge of SQL and data validation techniques.

  • Understanding of KPIs, metrics, and business performance reporting.

  • Behavioral & Leadership Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and work under tight deadlines.

  • High attention to detail with a quality-first mindset.

  • Education & Experience

  • Graduate / Postgraduate in Commerce, Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5–8 years of experience in MIS / Reporting / Analytics roles.

  • Mandatory 1–3 years of experience in a team handling or leadership role.

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timeliness and accuracy of MIS and reporting deliverables.

  • Stakeholder satisfaction and feedback.

  • Reduction in manual effort through automation.

  • Team productivity and capability enhancement.

  • Compliance with data quality and governance standards.
