Job Summary


The Compliance, IR & Licensing Manager will be responsible for ensuring statutory, labor law, and regulatory compliance across manufacturing units, warehouses, offices, and retail locations of The Sleep Company. The role will also manage industrial relations, government liaison, audits, inspections, and all licenses/registrations required for smooth business operations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Statutory & Legal Compliance

  • Ensure end-to-end compliance with Central & State labor laws including:
  • Factories Act, Shops & Establishments Act
  • PF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus, Minimum Wages
  • Contract Labour (R&A) Act
  • POSH, Maternity Benefit, Payment of Wages, etc.
  • Monitor changes in labor laws and ensure timely implementation.
  • Maintain statutory registers, returns, records, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants for compliance execution.

2. Industrial Relations (IR)

  • Manage employee relations at manufacturing units and warehouses.
  • Handle union interactions (if applicable), worker grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Lead domestic enquiries, show-cause notices, and corrective actions.
  • Support management in maintaining harmonious industrial relations.
  • Assist in manpower restructuring, closures, or expansions from an IR standpoint.

3. Licensing & Registrations

  • Obtain, renew, and maintain all statutory licenses and registrations including:
  • Factory License
  • Shops & Establishment Registration
  • Trade Licenses
  • Labour Licenses
  • Pollution Control, Fire NOC, Boiler Inspectorate (if applicable)
  • Track license validity and ensure timely renewals.
  • Coordinate with government authorities and inspectors for approvals and inspections.

4. Audits & Inspections

  • Handle statutory inspections by labor, factory, PF, ESI, and other authorities.
  • Manage internal and external compliance audits.
  • Ensure closure of audit observations within timelines.
  • Support social compliance audits (SMETA, ISO, customer audits, etc.).

5. Vendor & Contractor Compliance

  • Ensure compliance of contractors, manpower vendors, and service providers.
  • Verify statutory payments, returns, and licenses of contractors.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews of third-party vendors.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare compliance dashboards and reports for management.
  • Maintain compliance MIS and risk registers.
  • Support legal cases related to labor laws in coordination with legal counsel.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law / HR / Personnel Management / Industrial Relations
  • Master’s degree or LL.B preferred
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in compliance, IR, and licensing
  • Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, retail, or D2C companies preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and regulatory frameworks
