The Interim Director Labor and Delivery reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and leads a multidisciplinary perinatal team that may include charge nurses, RNs, OB techs, unit coordinators, and lactation consultants. Key partnerships for the Interim Director Labor and Delivery include obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, anesthesiology, pediatrics/neonatology, surgical services leadership, the ED and transport teams, as well as quality, risk, infection prevention, HR, and finance. Direct reports to the Interim Director Labor and Delivery will look for a visible, supportive leader who coaches talent, builds trust, and drives results.
The Interim Director Labor and Delivery will oversee a welcoming, family-focused LDRP environment featuring 7 LDRP rooms, 2 triage beds, 10 couplet care/GYN beds, and 2 dedicated obstetrical operating rooms where cesarean sections are performed. The service delivers down to 32 weeks’ gestation, with the ability to deliver at any gestational age in emergencies or when safe transport is not possible. A state-certified Level II Nursery provides 24/7 coverage from skilled physicians, neonatal nurse practitioners, and experienced nurses, caring for infants requiring respiratory or feeding support, antibiotics, IV therapy, and continuous monitoring—fully equipped with modern bed warmers, incubators, and advanced surveillance—creating a supportive, team-first environment for the Interim Director Labor and Delivery to lead.
The Interim Director Labor and Delivery will advance clinical excellence by mentoring staff, strengthening perinatal competencies (NRP, fetal monitoring, emergency readiness), and driving quality initiatives that elevate maternal-newborn safety, satisfaction, and outcomes. On the administrative side, the Interim Director Labor and Delivery will steward budgets and capital planning, optimize staffing and scheduling, lead recruitment and retention, and ensure regulatory readiness and accreditation success. The Interim Director Labor and Delivery will also foster strong physician relationships, champion shared governance, and standardize policies, workflows, and equipment planning to support reliable, high-quality care.
