Job Title:



Senior Oracle Database Administrator



Job Description:



The Oracle Database Administrator will serve as a technical lead responsible for architecting, supporting, and optimizing complex Oracle database environments across both on-premises and Azure cloud platforms. This advanced role requires a seasoned professional with 5-7 years of hands-on experience in Oracle database administration, including cloud migration, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and security enforcement. The Senior DBA will mentor junior team members, drive best practices, and collaborate across departments to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant database solutions.



Core Responsibilities



Lead the installation, configuration, and advanced maintenance of Oracle database systems in both on-premises and Azure cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance.



Implement and optimize database architectures, including Real Application Cluster, Automatic Storage Management, replication, Data guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager and advanced backup/recovery solutions.



Monitor and tune database performance using advanced diagnostic tools; proactively resolve complex issues to maintain reliability and efficiency.



Develop, document, and regularly test comprehensive disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure business continuity.



Enforce database security policies including TDE, implement compliance controls, and guide the team in data protection and privacy best practices.



Collaborate with IT leadership and business stakeholders to align database strategies with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.



Mentor and guide junior DBAs, providing training, technical oversight, and support for complex troubleshooting.



Lead and participate in database health checks, audits, and recovery exercises; continuously evaluate and improve database processes.



Stay current with evolving database technologies, cloud platforms, and industry best practices; recommend and implement improvements.



Qualifications



Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).



5-7 years of professional experience in Oracle database administration, including both on-premises and cloud-based environments.



Proven experience with Azure cloud services for database hosting, migration, and management.



Expert knowledge of database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability concepts.



Strong understanding of database security, compliance, and data protection standards.



Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.



Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills; experience working with cross-functional teams.



Additional skills on PostgreSQL and MySQL are desired.



Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar credentials are highly desirable.
