Role: IT Asset Management – Software Asset Management
Experience: 6-8 Years
Location: Bangalore
Key accountabilities
- Ensure that SAM data is captured and updated in the agreed toolsets on a timely basis, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, proactively flagging any gaps and identifying areas for improvement
- Provide analysis and interpretation of SAM data for license usage, software audits and operational optimisation, making recommendations on any actions required
- Take ownership of software licensing requests and the request process ensuring that requests are managed efficiently, dealt with within expected service levels and improvements indentified and delivered
- Ensure all new license requests are authorised and current stock levels are checked and new licences procured if required to ensure optimal use of licenses. Ensure the licensing position is legal and any exceptions are escalated accordingly
- Production of monthly management information and other adhoc reporting as required detailing risk, opportunities and licencing trends.
- Validate and renew software support and maintenance agreements (in conjunction with other IT teams and Vendors)
- Support the team to design, define, implement and manage software licensing policies and procedures to deliver improvements to the SAM function and governance processes
- Work with 3rd parties to harvest software as systems are decommissioned or software is identified as unused
- Provide SAM support and guidance to business stakeholders including advice on licencing agreements and providing pricing for projects
- Provide effective and professional communication to both internal customers and external suppliers
- Help identify, manage and escalate any risks in the use of software which may cause CUSTOMER to be non-compliant with the licencing terms of usage e.g. conducting software audits of the estate to manage compliancy
- Engage with all areas of the business on software licencing implications especially IT Architects, Procurement, Project Teams, IT Support Teams, Legal, End Users
- Review and make recommendations for improvements to the software and asset management toolset
- Support the ITAM Governance manager on matters relating to budget management, process and policies where appropriate
Technical skills/business skills required
- Proven experience (6+ years ) and a strong understanding of Software Asset Management processes, frameworks and negotiations, effective license positions and techniques
- Experience with a Software Asset Management toolset: Flexera, SNOW or similar (desirable)
- Certified SAM related qualification (desirable)
- Proven experience and good knowledge of licensing terms and conditions, product usage rights and ‘real world‘ licensing issues gained from working with vendor products
- Deep analysis experience including working with multiple data sources, liaising with various teams to understand processes and requirements, analysing detailed information, producing recommendations and proactively delivering on actions
- Understanding of end-user computing, networks and infrastructure technology
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong written & verbal communication skills with experience of liaising with IT staff, senior IT management, key business stakeholders and suppliers − can demonstrate the ability to explain complex issues succinctly and with clarity, both in writing or orally
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills and attention to detail
- Highly motivated and dynamic self-starter who can work proactively and under pressure, exhibiting strong time management & self-prioritization skills
- Strong commercial and financial awareness
- Familiarity or experience working with third party onshore and offshore service providers and partners
- Ability to interpret data from various unlinked data sources and combine into a coherent license reconciliation position
- Advanced level Excel
