About the Role
The Joint General Manager – CRG will be responsible for managing and strengthening Essar’s relationships with foreign embassies, visa and consular offices, and external industry/government bodies. The role requires strong external stakeholder management, deep understanding of government processes, and the ability to drive timely closure of approvals, clearances, and representations.
Responsibilities
Embassy, Consulate & Visa Liaison
Act as the primary point of contact with foreign embassies, consulates, and visa facilitation agencies.
Manage end-to-end coordination for business visas, work permits, diplomatic clearances, and special travel requirements for senior leadership and critical employees.
Track applications, follow up with authorities, and ensure timely closure of visa and travel-related matters.
Anticipate risks related to travel restrictions, regulatory changes, or geopolitical developments and proactively advise leadership.
Policy & Advisory Institutions
Manage engagement with Central Government policy and advisory bodies, such as NITI Aayog, for consultations, strategy discussions, and policy representations.
Support leadership participation in policy forums, task forces, and consultations convened by such institutions.
Track policy directions, discussion papers, and recommendations emerging from these bodies and assess implications for the organization.
Coordinate internal inputs and ensure timely, well-articulated submissions and follow-through.
External Industry Bodies & Associations
Represent the organization with relevant industry bodies, chambers of commerce, and professional associations.
Coordinate participation in industry forums, consultations, and working groups that impact business or policy advocacy.
Leverage industry platforms to support the organization’s interests, reputation, and alignment with best practices.
Regulatory & Compliance Coordination
Monitor changes in regulations, circulars, and government notifications impacting travel, immigration, and ministry interactions.
Work closely with Legal, HR, and Business teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and government requirements.
Maintain documentation, trackers, and records to support audits and regulatory reviews.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Prepare briefs, notes, and status updates for senior management on critical matters requiring intervention or escalation.
Ensure sensitive matters are handled with confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
Operational Rigor & Closure Focus
Own end-to-end execution of assigned CRG matters with clear timelines and accountability.
Maintain trackers and dashboards to monitor status, risks, and closures.
Proactively follow up to resolve bottlenecks and ensure timely completion of actions.
Drive closure of long-pending or complex cases through structured escalation and relationship management.
Qualifications
Graduate / Postgraduate in Public Administration, Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related discipline.
10–15 years of experience in corporate relations, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or external relations.
Prior experience engaging with embassies, policy institutions and industry bodies.
Required Skills
Strong experience in corporate relations, government liaison, or external affairs.
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with ministries, policy institutions, and industry bodies.
Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory frameworks, and government processes.
High integrity, discretion, and stakeholder credibility.
Strong execution discipline with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship management skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Ability to navigate and influence within a bureaucratic environment.
